Jun 29, 2005 · It has the 24 spline input shaft. My question is? I want to put the 24 spline input shaft into my 79' C4 so I don't have to go buy another converter. First of all is a swap possible between the two C4's? What all do I have to swap to convert my 26 spline C4 to a 24 spline input shaft? A list of parts would be great!
There are input shaft/forward clutch changes in the C4 you should be aware of. From 1964 to 1969, the C4 had a .788-inch 24/24-spline input shaft and forward clutch hub (left). For 1970 only, there was a larger .839-inch 26/26-spline shaft and forward clutch hub (not shown).

The Haynes manual shows the input shaft with what appears to be a bushing boss about 2/3 the way down the shaft. If you look at the shaft and hold the splines furthest away from the bushing boss, install the other splines into the tranny.
